A2 G325 – Critical Perspectives in Media

OK Yr 13 – our final examined module. 2 hrs in length and in 2 sections.
Section A –

Theoretical Evaluation of Production

…you must answer 2 compulsory questions.

The first (1a) is on your skills development over the two years of the course, from Foundation to Advanced. There will be a focus for your answer, from one of the following key areas –

Digital Technology
Creativity
Research and Planning
Post-production
Using conventions of real media texts.

The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that these headings correspond closely with the areas of focus of your evaluations, saved on your blogs. This is why it is critical that you use the blogs as a revision tool to recall what you did both last year and this. The question may involve one or ore of these categories.

The second question (1b) will require you to focus on just one of your productions and evaluate it in relation to a key media concept from the following list –

Genre
Narrative
Representation
Audience
Media Language

Due to the wide range of media genres covered across centres, sometimes the chosen key concept may not appear to fit with or be relevant to your production. In this case it is acceptable to discuss how a key theory is not applicable.
You may discuss either of your main tasks, or either of your ancillary products, as appropriate.

Keep a watchful eye on the blog for important information, tips and links concerning this part of the examination.
